About Joe

Joe Stutler is a passionate community volunteer for many civic organizations. A veteran of the United State Army and Army National Guard, he served two tours in Germany as well as in theater during Operation Desert Storm. Joe chaired and served on the Linn County Veteran Affairs Commission for two terms. He currently serves on the Democratic National Committee’s Veterans & Military Families Council, on the Iowa Democratic Party’s Veterans Caucus & Disabilities Caucus, and as a precinct representative on the Linn County Democratic Party Central Committee. At the 2016 Iowa Caucus, Joe was elected as a delegate/alternate for Sen. Bernie Sanders, and is a Sanders delegate to the Iowa 1st Congressional District and State conventions. Joe is a member of American Legion Post #298 in Marion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Joe is the Vice-Chair of Linn County Food Systems Council, Vice-Chair of the Marion Civil Rights Commission, Secretary for Valor, Inc. (the organization that hosts the Five Seasons Stand Down, an outreach program for homeless and nearly homeless Veterans), serves on the board of Community Circle of Care (the organization that sponsors the Sleepout for the Homeless), and Vice-Chair for the Granger House Cultural Center & Museum in Marion.
Joe and his wife Sarah and son Patrick reside at 2647 29th Avenue, Marion, Iowa. Joe earned a B.S. Degree in Business Management (Information Technology concentration) from Hamilton College as well as an Associates in Information Networking. He has worked and taught in the Information Technology field around the globe for nearly three decades.
Joe has served several times on the Linn County Elections Absentee and Early Ballot Special Precinct Board, working with both Republicans and Democrats to process many thousands of ballots in a secure, efficient, and accurate manner.
